- 1/2 tsp of salt
- Water as required

Method:
- Mix rice flour and salt in a bowl.
- Add water little by little and mix well until the flour becomes wet and crumbly.
- Add grated coconut to the mixture and mix well.
- Add water again little by little and mix well until the mixture becomes moist and fluffy.
- Fill the puttu maker or steamer with alternating layers of coconut mixture and rice flour mixture.
- Close the lid and steam for about 10-15 minutes or until the puttu is cooked.
- Remove the puttu from the puttu maker or steamer and serve hot with kadala curry or banana.
Notes:
- You can also add sugar or jaggery to the mixture if you prefer sweet puttu.
- Make sure the puttu mixture is not too dry or too wet. The texture should be moist and fluffy.
- You can also use a muslin cloth instead of a puttu maker to steam the puttu.
