Recipes FAQ

What is the difference between Pulao and Biryani?

While both Pulao and Biryani are rice dishes, they differ in their preparation and ingredients. Pulao is a one-pot dish that is made by cooking rice with meat, vegetables, or spices. Biryani, on the other hand, is a layered dish that is made by cooking rice and meat separately and then layering them with spices and fried onions.

Can I make Pulao with brown rice?

Yes, you can make Pulao with brown rice, but the cooking time and water ratio will be different. You will need to soak the brown rice for a few hours before cooking it and add more water than you would for white rice.

Recipe Tips

  • Make sure to soak the rice before cooking it. This helps to remove excess starch and ensures that the rice cooks evenly.
  • Fry the onions until they are golden brown as this adds a rich flavor to the Pulao.
  • Use good quality spices for the best flavor.
  • Do not stir the rice too much while it is cooking as this can cause it to become mushy.
  • If the Pulao is too dry, add a little more water and cook for a few more minutes.
