- 2 pounds of grated green bananas

- 2 cups of chicken or pork filling
- Banana leaves

- Large mixing bowl
- Large pot for boiling
- Butcher twine
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Peel and grate the green bananas, yucca, and plantains.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix the grated ingredients with achiote oil, sofrito, and salt. Mix well.
- Take a banana leaf and cut it into 10-inch squares.
- Place 1/4 cup of the mixture onto the center of each banana leaf square.
- Add 2 tablespoons of chicken or pork filling onto the center of the mixture.
- Fold the banana leaf over the mixture and tie with butcher twine to secure.
- Place the pasteles in a large pot of boiling water and cook for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Remove the pasteles from the pot and let them cool.
- Remove the banana leaves and serve hot.
